AUTUMN ALOFT FESTIVAL,

SEPTEMBER 18–19, 2021

Every September, the skies of Park City become filled with giant flying frogs and rainbow owls, all in the name of the Autumn Aloft Festival. Balloonists from all over the world visit Park City to show off their special hot air balloons. And although it’s a spectator-only event — with attendees watching the balloons take flight above radiant fall foliage from the ground — private rides are available to set up outside of the festival hours.

Once the sun sets, attendees can visit the candlestick event on Park City’s Historic Main Street for an up-close look at the baskets and to learn how the extreme heat works to keep the balloons aloft. One of the best Park City festivals, this event takes place at Park City’s North 40 Playing Fields and is free to spectators.

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL,

JANUARY 20–30, 202

World-class skiing isn’t the only thing Park City has to brag about every winter. Founded in 1978 by actor-director Robert Redford, the Sundance Film Festival is one of the most well-known arts festivals in the world.

It takes place each January in Park City over the course of 11 days, drawing nearly 125,000 attendees who come to watch feature-length films, documentaries, and shorts. Between the films, festivalgoers can also peruse filmmaker conversations, panel discussions, and live music events. If you’re a film buff or supporter of the arts, there’s no better place to indulge — and witness a celebrity sighting! — than here at Sundance.

PARK CITY SPRING GRÜV:

DATES TBD

How do you know spring has sprung in Park City? The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, and the Pond Skimming Contest is underway. For more than two weeks every March, Park City celebrates the return of longer days and more sunlight with a packed calendar of free activities and fun known as Spring Grüv (pronounced “groove”). From concerts on the village stage to on-mountain competitions, it’s the spring break party that the entire family can enjoy.

Don’t miss the Pond Skimming Contest, where costumed contestants attempt to cross a 100-foot-long pond on skis or a snowboard. Don’t expect to see very many make it across — failing gloriously is the best part, after all!

PARK CITY KIMBALL ARTS FESTIVAL,

AUGUST 6–8, 2021

It’s been going strong for 50 years for good reason. If you visit Park City’s Main Street on the first weekend of August, you can’t miss the annual Kimball Arts Festival, which showcases the very best in local and national art. With more than 50,000 guests and over 200 jury-selected artists from around the country, you’re in store for one of the best events in the West. In addition to showcasing paintings, pottery, and photographs, the three-day event also features live music, food trucks, and a kids’ art area for family-friendly fun.

PARK CITY WINE FESTIVAL,

SEPTEMBER 30–OCTOBER 3, 2021

Want VIP access to all the vino you could possibly taste? The Park City Wine Festival is a can’t-miss affair where master winemakers and chefs gather to provide exquisite pairings and dining, featuring hundreds of wines from around the world. The three-day event of wining and dining is combined with unique educational and outdoors events, such as the Trails and Tannins hike or master lessons about food and wine.
